Happy end of May and Hello June everyone, the year is just flying by but not without its ups and downs. We also hope everyone is continuing to stay warm and dry amidst the recent weather events and change of seasons.

Despite the economic challenges we all are too familiar with, Buy Kiwi is growing exponentially, and we reached over 1 million kiwis last month, and more than 1.5 million in May, with many of them signing up as Buy Kiwi members.

We have a couple big announcements coming soon which should help everyone and some valuable tips below to help your business maximise its sales.

Our team is committed to creating a one-stop-shop destination for anything and everything Kiwi shoppers may need, while supporting Kiwi-owned and operated businesses, like yours.

We are continuously making improvements to the Buy Kiwi platform, so if you’re ever stuck or need help, please reach out as we’d love to help make your seller journey as smooth as possible.

Our marketing efforts are well underway, including channels many of you are familiar with such as Google, Facebook, Insta, Bing and much more.

As part of our ongoing optimisation, we have some observations to share with you, that will not only help with your Buy Kiwi performance but also with your own direct to customer marketing strategies.

These should all be actioned via your products on your website, which of course, feeds to Buy Kiwi. Not following the below will have a negative impact with your own marketing activities so well worth ensuring you are right on top of these opportunities:

  • High quality images – blurry or low-quality images are unlikely to get approved in our remarketing and shopping ads. High quality imagesincreases user engagement, clicks, and will provide a better user experience for those who are interested in your product. This also applies for incorrect image dimensions – we recommend 500×500 px jpeg files for all product images.  More info from Google here..
  • Product titles – please ensure your product titles do not exceed 150 characters as this affects how they’re presented in ads and different screen sizes. The title should accurately describe the product and should not include any promotional text like ‘free shipping’, be all capital letters, or foreign characters/symbols. Best practices with Titles
  • Product description – please ensure your product descriptions do not exceed 5000 characters. The description should accurately describe the product and only include information about the product – please do not include external links. Feel free to format your description with line breaks, bullet points etc to make it easy for customers to read. Best practices with Product Descriptions
  • GTIN/MPN –Did you know Google and many other channels give a “bonus” to products with a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) or MPN (Manufacturer Part Number) and can penalise a product it believes has a GTIN/MPN and it is not part of the product information.  More info re GTINs and MPNs

Below is an example of an ideal product that showcases a high-quality image, an appropriate length for the product title, and a brief yet informative product description.
